SIGNUP for Punic Wars! Campaign Theme -- Fall In 2018
Re: SIGNUP for Punic Wars! Campaign Theme -- Fall In 2018
What about Romans starting the list with both an "In Italy" and "Expeditionary" army list which they switch between as appropriate in the campaign? I haven't looked at the Carthaginian list, but perhaps they could do the same.

It doesn't really work. If the expedition was for multiple years, perhaps, but our campaign rules are designed for a series of single battles all computed as short-term one-shot jaunts from the same home area and then armies go back where you came from. For that the simulation of historical interaction is better the way we have it.Pavane wrote:What about Romans starting the list with both an "In Italy" and "Expeditionary" army list which they switch between as appropriate in the campaign? You may remember five or so years ago we experimented with a modification of the system (moving home regions) for the "Falls a Titan" theme (Germanic Migrations after the death of Atilla) but that system was complicated and didn't work as well as our base system.

The original posting was for a Punic Wars campaign, but later postings specified that it was a Second Punic War Campaign. Is there a reason for that?
By the way are there any Battle Cards available in this campaign?

Because I never think about the First Punic War? It didn't have Hannibal so it wasn't cool?Pavane wrote:The original posting was for a Punic Wars campaign, but later postings specified that it was a Second Punic War Campaign. Is there a reason for that?
I'll have to look when I get home. The whole Battle Cards effort has been temporarily suborned by taking pictures for and otherwise working on the high-quality print rulebook, plus injury recovery for me, start of the semester for me, etc.Pavane wrote: By the way are there any Battle Cards available in this campaign?

The incident on your shirt happened to me once. I was riding in Toronto and crossed a sewer grate. Unfortunately for me the steel bars ran parallel to the curb and not perpendicular. My front tire lodged in the grate, but my bicycle and I kept going so I rotated 180 degrees through the air and the bicycle and I ended upside down facing in the opposite direction of my travel, the front wheel still in the grate. I was wearing a helmet, so only it was scratched up. Now, I never cycle across a sewer grate without having a careful look first.

Armies Available
Topography
Topographies are as follows:
Wild Regions
Various powers occupy Wild Regions. When defending, they count as +1 maneuver rating greater than normal (including increased chance for a flank march).
Every power that is NOT Massilia, Syracuse, Romanized Campanian, Roman or Carthaginian occupies a Wild Region.
Special and Naval Movement
Only Roman and Carthaginian armies may cross the Western Mediterranean. The governments of Rome and Carthage are too cautious to risk their navy overmuch; as such only one army from each (one Roman and one Carthaginian) may use naval movement each turn.
No navy is required to move on pathways marked with an arrow.
Alliance
The following groups start out as allies. This means they cannot invade each other initially and may move freely through each other’s territory, so long as they are allied.
