Kwanggun Soldiers of Koryo Korean army

Post by David Kuijt » Sun May 20, 2018 12:14 pm

Does anyone have any images of the Kwanggun Spear, Archers, and cavalry of the Koryo Korean army, or recommendations for figures that will work for them? I have a legacy-system Koryo Korean army that I'm looking to bring up to standard for Triumph, but the research I did back in the day didn't have or need anything on the Kwanggun (standing army). I've found an armored spearman (Grumpy minis) that would work for the Spear, but ideally I could get armored spear and armored archers with the same type of armor, and Grumpy doesn't have a bowman in armor to go with it.

Khurasan makes figures for the Three Kingdom Korean period (300-650ish) and Grumpy make figures for the Yi Korean period (1400+) but both of them include some flamboyant headgear that doesn't work with the few images I've seen of Koryo Koreans. And the headgear is very different, so I have no idea which would work better (if either) for the Koryo between them.

Any advice would be appreciated.
