Double Classical Indians vs. Lusitanians

Post by Rod » Mon Jul 17, 2017 4:24 pm

Ok so Spencer and I teamed up using the Classical Indians for the doubles event. What a great idea! So who do we meet in our first battle? Tim and Wendy Meyers, could not ask for better people to play with or a more devastatingly evil army to face. They brought a Lusitanian army with a small force of Roman allies!!!! So they had an entire army of troops that shattered Elephants. Well not an entire army, the Romans were just elite and heavy foot, but they brought artillery. So out of their entire army I think they had maybe 6 stands of troops that did not shatter elephants

But undaunted we charged forward, how bad could it be? Well then we rolled for maneuver (I say we, I mean Spencer).... we blew it (again I mean Spencer) and got MAX TERRAIN. So lot's of places for the sneaky enemy light troops to hide in.

So we set up the battle and where admittedly Spencer and I blew our deployment decision. We should have put our mounted on the other flank. So here are a few action shots.

They set up fortress Lusitania in the woods....

We thought we would try to bust through the hole in the trees and crush their Skirmishers... but when we got close, Tim got a nice big pip roll and used it to jump the Chariots from both sides.

At that point Spencer's Chariot General went down and so did our hopes for victory :(

At this point I nearly got their Artillery with the brave Bow Levy, but alas he is still 2 moves away

And probably would have lost the battle anyway.

This was by far one of the most enjoyable battles of the weekend for me. Tim and Wendy played it really well, were an absolute pleasure to play against and it was a hoot playing with Spencer (as always). Thanks Guys!

It was fun for us, too (win not withstanding). Just watching the Rod and Spencer Show made our weekend. We did get a little confused as to who the old married couple was. 8-) Can't wait to do it again (with the expectation that tides may change).
