Supported Pike vs. Knights

I just got some nice Swiss pike this week and am surprised to see the support bonus (+2) does not apply to fighting knights. I thought the pikes were very strong, particularly in depth, against mounted armor.

Can you explain the logic behind the exclusion of support bonus vs. knights?

Also having enjoyed all the youtube aids and games, I am wondering if Rod will be posting more interesting topics or games.

Rule 69.4(b). Pike receive support against Knights, Elephants, Cataphracts.
Rule 69.4(a). .... and also against any foot that isn't shooty.

Ah, yes. A more careful reading of the QRS shows that the "except" applies only to archers and a few others, not to the knights.
