Do I have this right: bridges and fords are treated the same. Their effect on the game is limited to counting as a "road" section for a stream terrain piece. This allows artillery and war wagons to cross at these points; they are normally prohibited from entering difficult terrain unless by road.

I think treating bridges and fords, for combat purposes, as just another type of difficult terrain is a necessary abstraction by the Triumph! rules. Assigning them points values for controlling them, as the Centurion has demonstrated, better represents their true value for logistics and moving the army over long distances.

I have several bridge and ford pieces in my terrain collection but I have yet to use them! I think because I don't have any armies (yet) that have artillery or war wagons.

There is no official Triumph rules for bridges or fords. The question was how to handle them in historical battles. I would suggest fords being difficult terrain. Taking a bridge was very hard without artillery to sweep the defenders away and should give additional advantages.
