The only terrain was an oasis and a hill on the edges of the board. These had no effect on the battle.

A blinded prisoner is brought to the temple of Dagon. "And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars." Judges 16:25
This piece needs some touching up! I didn't realize how rough the paint job is until I saw this picture.

A young Hebrew boy takes up the challenge of a Philistine champion before the battle. "Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied." 1 Samuel 17:45
Steven and I both rolled a die to determine who won this pre-battle contest but I can't recall who won!

The battle lines. The Hebrew chariots and camel-mounted troops are on the far left. The Philistine chariots and Elite Foot General are lined up against them.

The Hebrew Light Foot and Skirmishers will be matched against Philistine Raiders.

Battle pleases mighty Dagon.

The Philistine Raider will have the advantage in the coming fight. Their +4 combat factor against other infantry is a significant factor.

The Philistine general flanks the Hebrew warriors on camels.

The line of Hebrew mounted troops is rolled up by the unstoppable Philistine giant.

The Hebrews are not without successes. Their Chariot General breaks through the center.

A general view of the infantry combat.

It was a narrow victory for the Philistines. The superior combat ability of the Philistine Infantry and their unstoppable general gave me the victory. I had lost the last two games to Steven so managing a even narrow victory was good for my morale. He is a great guy to play games with!
