Captain Con - Feb 4-7 2022 Warwick, RI

Post by Psybilliah » Thu Nov 18, 2021 8:58 pm

Hi All,
I am attending Captain Con with a few other DMV guys and we are hoping to bring T! to the scene. Curious who will join my adventure. Captain Con is really laid back (though big on the drinks) and the event is in the venue. Would love to set up a group thing!
Let me know if you might be interested.

Flying, or driving?

Driving is 7 hours one way, which is pretty rough unless there are several people in the car. Flying is actually pretty cheap -- $122 round trip right now. The hotel will cost more.

I usually take the train with a small group. It's a fun ride without the stress of driving and a little more flex for carry on than flying. Usually BWI to Providence.

But I am open to ideas.

It's a great event and I hope we can represent.

The train does sound like fun. How much does it cost? I see that airfare is dirt cheap, and the convention site is nearly walking distance from the airport (certainly "airport shuttle" distance).

Regular coach and train is less thann$40 each way
Acela ( faster time and business seats ) is $90 each way

We can just Uber over to venue vs wait for shuttle.

This big benefit in my opinion is we can bring more stuff with us and there is a surreal and enjoyable trip to be had on a train.

That's a compelling image you paint. Wouldn't work for any large or complex boards, but maybe the demo boards and some armies.

That'll be the start of my semester, which is sometimes easy and sometimes fraught. So I can't commit right now. But I'm considering it.

Reminder that this is a thing. Masks required. I have booked demo tables for the entire fri-sat. Which also means we can just play if there are no demoes.

I believe other Mike is coming as well as well as some of the model Atlantic crew.

Would love to see folks
