Duration: 6 hours
Event Scale: 15mm
Rules Used: TRIUMPH! fast play ancient and medieval battles
Maximum Players: Unlimited (Teams of 2 players)
Description: There are few glories as glorious as doubles games, where you and a partner compete against another pair of players. Victory is that much sweeter with someone to share it with, and defeat with a partner can lead to blamecasting, bitter recriminations, shattered friendships and divorce. What's not to like?!?
So come and participate in the Grand Triumph Doubles Challenge! Grand Triumph is a modification of the successful Triumph! fast-play game for ancients and medieval warfare, where two players on a side run a triple-size Triumph army (144 pts), as described on www.wgcwar.com/GrandTriumph.html . Teams are responsible for bringing their own armies and joie de vivre, and terrain if they have it -- boards will and terrain will be supplied (although terrain may be limited if there are a lot of teams signing up).
See the Triumph! online army lists at http://meshwesh.wgcwar.com/home for individual army lists. Use triple the army minimums and maximums if no ally is taken; if a single ally is taken use double the army list minimums and maximums for the main army and a full normal-sized army list for the ally.
Teams are strongly encouraged to sign up in advance on the Triumph! Forum at http://forum.wgcwar.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=125

Note that there are two categories of events at Historicon -- PEL Events (for which tickets are usually issued and required) and Tournaments (for which tickets are not issued or required). And some of our events fall into one category, some into the other, and some (like the walkups) have tickets but they aren't required.

This is the "We Don't Need No Steenking Tickets" category.

I'm trying to plan our game play at Historicon 2017 and it seems there are no Triumph! events on Saturday according to the PEL.

Is that correct?

Thanks for that Rod.
I was looking in the PEL in the "Tournament" section, which is why those other were probably not listed.

I have just signed up for "Sharp Johnny" and I'll get the other folks on Monday to do the same.

Yeah, we are doing some events in the PEL and some in the tournament section....

The goal is to draw new people into ancients gaming, hence the reason we have been running events outside the tournament area at Cold Wars and Fall In, with a lot of success so far.

When we ran the inaugural open tournament at Cold Wars we had 12 players, many playing their first tournament game ever :)

Looking forward to seeing you guys at Historicon!

We are planning on playing anything that does not conflict with DBA 3.0, which at this time is only on Saturday morning and afternoon.
