But the list of elements that pursue, 78.1, doesn’t contain light spear. If it did, then absolutely 78.3 would kick in and both light spear units would pursue.

So is light spear intended to be like pike, in that if pursues if it has rear support (and only gets +1), and the supporting element also follows behind?

You are correct -- the front light spear doesn't pursue. If it did, though, then the rear one would follow (by 78.3)

This is my mistake, I just rechecked. Light spear do not pursue unless they double.

If they do double and pursue the rear rank follows up.

Sorry about this. Was making some minor corrections to the sheet, and saw this again and got confused.

Do Light Spear pursue if they are rear supported? I get that if they did pursue, the rear rank would ALSO pursue (78.3), but the big questions are:

Do Light Spear pursue at all, or do they pursue only if they have rear support?

If they DO pursue with rear support (the same as Pikes), then rule 78.1 will need an addition.

The difference is this Pike pursue if they got rear support (they do not have to double). Light Spear only pursue if they double, and if they do double and pursue and had rear support, the support comes along for the ride.
