Highelves

Post by Brummbär » Wed Oct 07, 2020 3:06 pm

And as promised - here are my high elves as opponents for my dwarf army.
I follow Rod here and have Pavisiers included along some heavy infantry, Wardancers (which I will play as Raiders), Horse Bow, 2 Knights (the mighty - and somewhat arrogant - Dragon Princes) and 2 bases of Elite Cavalry, Skirmishers and a magical Artillery :D

Here you see my mage with his astral construct - will be played as an artillery unit - and my camp

Really nice Elves!

I like the idea of the mage as an artillery unit, I have been pondering how to incorporate figures like that into my army. I'll have to base up at least one to use as artillery. Another idea I had was to use a mage as the second rank in a pavise unit behind a row of infantry.

Thanks!
Great idea with the pavise unit - sounds like a group of magicians and their bodyguards ;)

Looking good!

I am thinking about painting a Conan themed army or two in 15mm, but so many projects, so little time :)

Great idea!
I was also thinking about a Conan theme...
...what armies would you choose?

Well, Cimmerians are sort of must do... But probably all warrior and warband with a few skirmishers and "bad horse" there is also a possible battle taxi or two. Maybe some trained wolves?

Picts, looking very similar to the above, but probably no mounted, and some sort of creatures.

This is based on the Cobblestone castings stuff.

After that you can get pretty crazy, elephants (war mammoths), elephant headed dudes, monsters, magic, serpents, you name it.

I have a PDF of the old DBF Conan lists, I can e-mail them if you are interested. The troop designations are all DBM style, but it gives some good background material for army ideas.
