15mm Lord of the Rings Figures
I will be buildng multiple Lord of the Rings armies in 15mm this year. The goal is to have six or more armies and play a game of Grand Triumph! on a big board (5' by 8" maybe?) depicting Middle Earth from the Shire in one corner to Mordor in the other.
This concept was inspired by a miniatures game from the 70s called "Ringbearer" that I always wanted to try out but never had the resources. I am not sure how it will all work yet, but this is the year!
I am going for the look of the Angus McBride illustrations for these armies.
TROLLS and HOBBITS
These Trolls and Hobbits are the first finished pieces. The trolls are Orcs from Battle Valor games, surrounded by orcs from Khursasan and Chariot miniatures. The Hobbits are from Chariot, but with their bulbous heads cut off and replaced with heads from Peter Pig.

Re: 15mm Lord of the Rings Figures
This camp, representing a lesser fortification on the border, will serve my Saruman army. It is inspired by the description of the tower of Orcthanc in the books; black sides tapering to the top and ending with "gaping horns, their pinnacles sharp as the point of spears."
In Fantasy Triumph! terms, it will be a Heavily Fortified camp, which costs two points and gives an extra +4 factor in defense. It cannot be garrisoned.
I was orginally going to have an LED-powered brazier of coals at the top and have Saruman as a six-point hero on the field (Hero with Major Mindblast) but I have now settled on having Saruman hinself at the top, having come to the front to watch his army firsthand from a watchtower.
I will use the six points for more pike units.

Re: 15mm Lord of the Rings Figures
These 15mm figures started as Gnome slingers from Splintered Light miniatures. They were converted to be "Woses", small and stocky forest people wearing grass skirts and armed with primitive weapons. The Woses make a limited appearance in Tolkien's books when they offer to guide the Riders of Rohan along a secret path in order to avoid the enemy near Gondor. In Triumph! terms I based them as Rabble.
