Terrain Color in the Holy Land

Post by Bill Hupp » Fri Feb 24, 2017 6:09 pm

I am working on some Holy Land terrain boards for the Chariot Wars (but they should also be useful for Crusader games, etc.).

I have never been there, so I need to use photos to work out the color of dirt, grass, etc.

I found this helpful site with photos of walking tours of Bible Lands.

(Also researching types of trees and found some interesting sites too.)

I am curious at to what others have used as a base ‘dirt’ color. Any input is welcome.

Thanks.

Hey Bill. While everyone's choices are different, i personally use GW's Zandri Dust spray paint for any larger pieces of terrain. The color matches very well with the potted paint (if you have ever used that color) and I feel that is gives a good desert feel (both sand and dirt). Vallejo's equivalent is Khaki i believe.

Hope this helps somewhat:)
