15mm Egyptians

Post by Texus Maximus » Wed Aug 07, 2019 3:44 am

This is the start of an Egyptian Army, initially organized and based for the early pre-chariot list. I am cheating by using New Kingdom figures, but I can’t find any Old or Middle Kingdom figures that I like. Almost all the figures are Old Glory brand. There are four Bow Levy, two Skirmishers, three Horde, eight Heavy Foot, and an Elite Foot General. I am waiting on one more bag of Heavy Infantry to have all the necessary figures.

There are two close up shots. One is a Horde stand with 12 figures on it, representing conscript infantry led by local officials. The other are Egyptian skirmishers with a quiver carrier. The quiver carrier is a converted Essex Egyptian drummer.

The javelinmen with their quiver-carrier are finished.

Nice work Paul. What did you use for the flocking? It has a nice "dry" look to it.

Cheers,

The flocking is Gale Force Nine static grass, “Arid”.

The base texture is Liquitex basics coarse texture medium. The texture was dry brushed Earth Brown, the Coffee, then Linen. I use Anitas All-Purpose Acrylic paints.

Some scenic items to place in or near any water features on the board and the command stand (Elite Infantry) led by the Pharaoh himself, wearing the blue “war crown”.

Paul, where did you source the hippo, croc and canoe?

Cheers,

The hippo and crocodile are soft plastic toys from two seperate packs of “Good Luck Minis” made by Safari Limited. Both packs have other minis that are useful (the lion is a nice model). The hippo was just cut in half - no painting required. The crocodile needed a simple repaint.

The canoe and paddlers come in sets of four from Blue Moon. The basket of fish is from Baueda.
