Thanks for the teaser!
Looking forward for the real thing...

So far I found shieldwall batles on the tabletop not that interesting - really looking forward to see how Hastings plays out :D

Shield wall on shield wall in Triumph play pretty historically in my opinion. Units pushing back and forth until something bad happens and one side gets flanked or a hole in the line occurs and things fall apart.

If you prefer mounted battle with lots of maneuver (I tend to like mounted armies), then yes it feels a little static, but the tension is there still. At our demo games the Saxon - Viking demo setup was one of the ones people came back and played over and over.

Hastings is a little different in that the Normans are not equipped for a straight shield wall battle, their heavy foot are out numbered and downhill, they need to work the flanks if they can and use the feigned flight ability of the skirmishers and Javelin Cavalry to break up Harold's formation by getting his troops to pursue them down the hill. Then hit with their knights and exploit any advantage they can get.

It has usually been a nail bitter. The Saxon command is very static, the Normans have got to do a lot of maneuver. In the convention setting, Harold wins with a draw, i.e. if we run the clock out and the Saxons hold they win. William has to win by breaking Harold's army.

Anyway the generals arrive in a few hours and we shall try to film the whole battle and post the AAR once I get it edited.

I mostly did the teaser because I was playing around with adding the traditional music track. Always trying to improve the quality of the videos.
