Seems odd to me, but Essex has released eleven new Medieval/Ren command packs in 15mm featuring a King and two ladies or lady with knights of various types/periods. There only appear to be two distinct "lady" figures, which may be why Essex didn't release them as a separate pack. Neither are armored...one almost looks like a nun on horseback.

Check them out under Latest Releases at; https://www.essexminiatures.co.uk/

It's the other way around -- the wimple and veil is normal female headgear of the 1150-1250 period, adopted later (after it was unfashionable and conservative) by female religious orders. The same way that the houpellande of the 15th century was adopted as the main design of university academic robes and retained long after houpellandes were no longer fashionable.

Take a look at Katherine Hepburn in "The Lion in Winter" -- she's wearing a wimple. And a crown, but still.
