I hadn't thought about it that way, but that does seem to be a reasonable approach.
Andreas Johansson wrote:This implies of course that there should be transitional lists: but in the absence of such actually being documented they can be simplified way at little cost.
Such undocumented transition periods are implied by every major army list transition not imposed by aliens from above, sure.
Andreas Johansson wrote: Of course, I do not actually know anything about how the change took place.
Me neither. And I suspect if anyone did know about it (and publish the info) that data would be chewed up and spit into another list, and we'd be talking about the transitions between that list and the ones on either side (chronologically or geographically).

The Embattled Isle thematic category is missing the Pre-Feudal Scots army list. At least I think that it should be there.

Salutations, gentlefolk,

Looking thru new lists, noted that some have same troop type on two lines - eg EIR has Javelin Cav on second line, with min and max of 1, then line 6 has Javelin Cav with no min and 1 max. Typo ? Deliberate ? East v West or ... ? Historical note in progress ?

Same phenomon with Marian Romans and, I think, Early Tang China.

Yours, John Desmond

PS - Printable versions of the army lists - possible ? likely ? do it ourselves ?

Deliberate; it will all make sense once the army list descriptive text has been fully buffed. If you look at the first 1/4 of the army lists, you'll see the descriptive text is in there for them already. We had hoped to have all that stuff done already, but due to a variety of personal reasons our output across the Fall-In/Cold Wars gap fell short of our original intent.

One of the points that was brought up by enthusiasts at Cold Wars was providing a format for single-army-list printout on Meshwesh; that's going to be a priority moving forward.

At this point we haven't discussed whether the whole army list will be available as a static print document. While we are sympathetic to that desire, it is a complex issue.

Salutations, David !

Found the earlier Sui Chinese list that I'd 'de-HTML-ed' and printedout, noted that you did have a 'same troop type, different figures' note therein, concluded that I'd spoken too soon.

Might note, though, that the Sui's general can be knight or cataphract, but there are no knights in the Sui list.

Yours, John

PS - While I may be picking at the nits, want to say that I definitely appreciate the effort that you are putting into this, and want Triumph to become a yoouge success.

Fixed. Thanks.

Thanks, so do we.

"Army of Atilla" should be "Army of Attila".

I'm fairly certain this is a typo/minor error, but it could also be that something has gone completely over my head.

According to Meshwesh, the minimum to field the Sedentary Gallic Army comes to a total of 54 points. Needless to say, that makes it impossible to play. How would the mins/max be adjusted to correct this OR what am I missing?

Thanks!
Wendy

Hey Wendy,

Look at the restrictions. It says:
  • 6-10 Warriors (Helvetii or Belgae)
  • 8-14 Light Infantry (all except Helvetii or Belgae)
In other words, if your Gallic tribe is Helvetii or Belgae, you get 24 pts of Warriors (minimum). If your tribe is Aedui, Arverni, Sequani, or a dozen other Gallic tribes, you get 24 pts of Light Infantry (minimum).

You never get both. So the minimum is 30 pts for the army, not 54.
