The mass of an Aztec army are rated as rabble, while their neighbours are more generously rated as light foot. Does this have any particular justification, or is it just a holdover from the DBX lists which rate Aztecs clan warriors quite harshly?
I've never seen an explanation for why Aztec clan warriors should be worse than similar troops among their neighbours, beyond Phil's justification that it allows them to outnumber them appropriately (which I take to be a post hoc rationalization for one of his little idées fixes because the same logic isn't applied to other historically numerous armies - normally we rate for guesstimated quality and leave numerical discrepancies for historical refights).
