What Historical Opponents Make the Best Game?
What Historical Opponents Make the Best Game?
I know you can use whatever you already have, but are there certain matchups that make for the best/most interesting gameplay? Its not too expensive to build up an army, so what would be some of the best matchups?

Rome vs. Carthage is classic and a lot of fun to play.
Another Favorite of mine is Crusaders where you have Knights and some foot vs. Saracen Horsebow and Elite Cav
Classical Indians vs. Alexander Imperial, very asymmetrical battle, but interesting.

All those that Rod mentioned are excellent. I also like Rome vs Ancient British.

Due to the chess like nature of the game, I like civil wars. Mongol tribal wars comes to mind. English Feudal has been fun.

I have really enjoyed Mitanni vs. Early New Kingdom Egyptians... played that pair numerous times.
