Question from Hattin Scenario

Post by chris6 » Thu Aug 27, 2020 8:09 am

Hattin Scenario Part II, Minute 30

A knight in Combat with 2 Horses wins, 1 Horse touching the front can fall back, the horse to the side can not fall back fully and is destroyed by hitting an enemy foot in the rear.

Question:
Why is the enemy foot destroyed? And where in the rules can I find this?

Thx in advance....

I haven't got the video in front of me, but the answer is almost certainly 80.3

Hi Chris,
Yes this one often takes people by surprise.

Imagine you are fighting in a battle and all of the sudden a bunch of panicked troops crash into the rear of your unit, worse yet they are enemy troops, chaos!

That is why I like the Hattin-video a lot. During the game I start calculating factors and trying to understand what rules are used in which situation.
That leads to these points where you ask yourself: "Why did he do that in this way - I came to other factors..." etc. A good way to "sharpen" the understanding of the rules and understanding he tactics.
Thanks a lot for this video!

Do you have plans for something similar in the future?

Yes, I want to record Hastings on Video as well.

Right now we are trying to perfect the zoom game were we have several people commanding the forces and one table being manned by one or two people with players making command decisions remotely. We did a trial run last week with a 48 point game it worked pretty well.

We are going to try and video a 48 point, then move on to larger battles. Since I have Persians and Greeks on the table we will start with that. Very different troops from the Hattin battle.
