grand triumph allied general

For Grand Triumph
Does the allied general element have to be an element that is a designated general type in the allied army list?
Looking at the Indian Allies https://meshwesh.wgcwar.com/armyList/5f ... 9e/explore
Selecting Grand Triumph, Ally Army Command, the general has to be an Elephant, well I assume a rider on an elephant.
Can any other unit be chosen to be the general?

commands may be of any troop type
except:
a. The general may not be Skirmishers,
Rabble, or Artillery unless the command
contains no other troop types.
