I'm still a bit fuzzy on some aspects of movement. I have V1.1:
1) A group move cannot use oblique movement, backwards movement or straight sideways movement, correct?
2) A single stand can move in any direction as long as either front corner doesn't exceed its movement allowance.
3) A moving group can conform to a contacted enemy group IF doing so is within its movement allowance. If conforming would exceed its movement allowance, its move will have to end without conforming to the enemy.
4) A unit can be in overlap position if only one corner is in contact with an enemy unit, as Rod showed in one of his recent videos.
5) Stands can be placed forward of their main friendly battleline to act as "speed bumps" for enemy forces. This will impede the movement of enemy forces but is not necessarily a good/winning strategy.
6) Refer to the illustration in 54.2. If unit B moves into the gray units flank, the gray unit turns to face B. Then A can move into the gray unit's new flank position or not? When is the flanking condition determined, before each individual unit's move or at the start of that player's movement phase?
7) A group move of three units moving in difficult terrain would cost 3 CPs? By comparison, this same group move would cost 1 CP if moving in open terrain (assuming all are within command distance).
Thanks.

Re: Movement Questions
None of that stuff. Correct.
Depends upon ZOC, but yes.
No free movement, yes.
Depending upon the situation and the contact, yes. If you just stick a random corner into contact with a random part of an enemy unit, most likely it isn't an overlap.
There are lots of stupid strategies, yes. If by "placed" you mean "deployed", the deployment rules for starting the game cannot be violated, no.
Gray unit doesn't turn. See 65.2. That may answer your question. It only turns if it loses the subsequent combat.coopman wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 8:31 pm6) Refer to the illustration in 54.2. If the gray unit was hit by a group move (with other conditions also in place) it would turn and fight frontally. In that case, any unit moving AFTER the conforming occurred would evaluate whether it could hit the flank based upon the new position/alignment -- there is no requirement to mark or remember the old position. That would be awkward and fraught with weirdness.
Depends. If the units were all skirmishers or rabble, just 1 CP. If one of the units was behind another (so there were only two frontages to the group), 2 CP. If all three units were non-Skirm, non-rabble, and all were in a line widthwise, and at least the center unit of the line was in difficult terrain, then yes, 3 CP.
