Markus,
I actually think the shooting is much improved over the original draft rules. For one thing the mechanics now allow you to and even encourage you to spread your archers out along the line.

Re: Video Battle
Markus, just reviewed the tape and I think you are correct. I would have to measure, but I believe that knight was in the ZOC of the two Cav in front of it since it passes through the heavy foot. This is one that I have a tendency to miss from time to time, and I do not think Terence and Dave could ...

Re: Moving in tight quarters and coming to grips?
Not sure I see the problem? The Raider can hit the EF to it's front. The Chariot could swing into help with an overlap or hit the other EF on the flank. In the Raider on EF fight with chariot overlap, the blue EF has no retreat option and dies if it loses the combat roll by 1. So it seems like there...

If you prefer mounted battle with lots of maneuver (I tend to like mounted armies), the...

Re: Hastings
Lembit, I attached your picture here to continue discussion if you like. Ditch = Fosse in old English as I understand? So not sure why you are making one a ditch and one a barricade. I am not a language expert though only going by others translations. As mentioned above, I can find a description of ...

Re: Hastings
The only reference to a fosse that comes close is the one described by Wace. It is very much inconsistent with all the other references in both time and place of the fosse. The other accounts I have seen seem to indicate it was a natural dip the ground and the concealment was from natural vegetation...

A good video on the search for the actual battlefield.

I watched this as well before making my battlefield, the laser topography is quite interesting.
