Re: Persian colonists and chalybes

There is mention of "Cabelees" in Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars (WRG, 1975) by Richard Nelson. They are said to "look like Cilicians" and depicted like this:

Minifigs 15mm makes a figure for this.

Re: 15mm Lord of the Rings Figures

This camp, representing a lesser fortification on the border, will serve my Saruman army. It is inspired by the description of the tower of Orcthanc in the books; black sides tapering to the top and ending with "gaping horns, their pinnacles sharp as the point of spears." In Fantasy Triumph! terms, ...

15mm Lord of the Rings Figures

I will be buildng multiple Lord of the Rings armies in 15mm this year. The goal is to have six or more armies and play a game of Grand Triumph! on a big board (5' by 8" maybe?) depicting Middle Earth from the Shire in one corner to Mordor in the other. Re: Scythians vs Medes

“I'm curious as to why you shorted the Medes 6 points? Two more stands would have blunted the Skythians' advantage” Excellent question! Re: Scythians vs Medes

Second Battle We switched sides and played again using the same army composition. My son-in-law commanded the Medes and I took the Scythians. The Medes had the advantage once again and set out the maximum amount of terrain, the most significant being a stream running perpendicular to the deployment...

Re: Byzantines vs Egyptians

"Charles Stewart Grant wrote that it was silly (my word, not his, but the overall assessment is very similar) for an “Egyptian army of about 3,000 BC to meet a Byzantine army from the sixth century AD on the wargames tabletop.” He also brought up the additional “wild” example of “Ancient Britains [s...

Scythians vs Medes

Scythians vs Early Medes My son-in-law and I played two games of Triumph! using my 15mm Scythian and Early Medes armies. Army Composition The Scythian army had ten stands of Horsebow and two stands of Elite Cavalry, one of which was the General. The Medes had six Javelin Cavalry, five Light Foot, a...

Good feedback, thanks David. I will increase the Maneuver rating to 3 and take the Ambush card for sure.
