Re: 15mm Lord of the Rings Figures

These three stands of Ents will be an allied contingent, or maybe a delayed-entry force for my Rohan army. In game terms: Behemoths, Delayed Entry, Terrain Affinity: Woods. Or something like that. I am open to suggestions. https://i.postimg.cc/L5DKYnGJ/IMG-6192.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/P5RHQvJZ/IMG-...

Re: 15mm Lord of the Rings Figures

This camp is for my upcoming Rohan army. A messenger has arrived at an isolated home out in the grasslands to tell a woman and child the news of invasion and battle. https://i.postimg.cc/vT3MWsxN/IMG-6170.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/PJtTpxJD/IMG-6173.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/ydCVKnzv/IMG-6175.jpg The b...

Re: 15mm Achaemenid Persian Camp

Thanks Greg; I suppose there are other armies where this kind of camp might be suitable, but I don't think I will try it again! It was expensive to buy the figures from England. Painting only took about an hour per stand. I wanted to field troops like this since reading that WRG book in 1975 and fin...

According to Richard Nelson, “the subject races of the empire were simply employed in national units, with each unit reta...

This 15mm army represents the forces of Saruman; masses of orcs as the main force, accompanied by some trolls, wolf riders, and Dunlendings. They are led in the field by a cadre of large Man-Orcs. Re: 15mm Lord of the Rings Figures

These 15mm figures started as Gnome slingers from Splintered Light miniatures. They were converted to be "Woses", small and stocky forest people wearing grass skirts and armed with primitive weapons. The Woses make a limited appearance in Tolkien's books when they offer to guide the Riders of Rohan ...

Re: Persian colonists and chalybes

There is mention of "Cabelees" in Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars (WRG, 1975) by Richard Nelson. They are said to "look like Cilicians" and depicted like this:
