Marathon Via Zoom part 2
A few action shots from Sunday's rematch with 6 players 4 on zoom and two in person. This time the Persians shot up the Greek line as it advanced and finally broke the center. The Persian flanks were overwhelmed though and the Persian center was endanger of being surrounded. Overall it played out ve...

Re: What happens here?
With the flank blocked the Jav Cav can move into the front edge or the Skirmisher could choose to withdraw from ZOC when it was their move.
There is no "illegal contact" in Triumph, you can touch another unit but not be in combat contact and it just means they are in really close ZOC.

Re: Marathon via Zoom
I have considered trying to recreate that, however I am also trying to create a balanced and fun convention game. The main weapon of the Persians is the archery fire which is important for breaking up the line and pushing units out of charge range by forcing them to fall back, not just destroying un...

Re: Marathon via Zoom
Markus, Thanks for the comments. Yes it is really a straight forward line up shoot and fight. Flanks were secured mostly. This is the OOB I am playing with and discussing back and forth with DK. It is easier to represent the thin line in GT (zoomed in more). However the flanks was not so much the "d...

Closing into archery range and the Greek onslaught. Marathon 4.jpg Marathon 6.jpg Marathon 7.jpg Marathon 8.jpg In the end the Persian center broke before the Greeks center (which was close to breaking). Persian archery was definitely below par in the battle which weighed in heavily towards a slight...

Re: 1278 battle on the Marchfeld
The active player chooses the order and the attacker when there is no front contact priority. So if I understand correctly you have an enemy knight and horsebow on the flank and the rear and the owner of those units turn, it can be either as the attack roll, the other provides a -1 overlap. So in th...

Re: Deployment
Yeah, disadvantaged is a bit of a misnomer I think.... it is more like the dude that did not pick where the fight occurred.
But depending on the situation and the army, I really like setting up my non-battle line second especially with lots of mounted forces.

Re: Zagros Highlanders (Lullubi) vs. Elamites
Biblical era armies in Triumph are really a hoot to play because of the Rabble, Bow Levy and Horde troops.
Also take a look as armies like Classical Indian, I won the very first Triumph open years ago with this army. Elephants, chariots, Bad Horse and a bunch of Horde and Bow Levy.
