Re: Brian Boru's Camp at Clontarf
That is an excellent camp. I like the way it is composed, with musicians, retainers, soldiers, and a banner all arrayed around the king at the center. Also putting the figures at different heights looks good.

Re: My 1st Triumph army
This army is impressive! The painting is excellent and the basing really complements this army, especially because of the big pike formations and elephants.
Also, the terrain matches well with the look of the army. Where did you get that green grass mat?

Re: Zagros Highlanders (Lullubi) vs. Elamites
In answer to the question about how much fun the armies are to play: These early-era armies are fun to play because of the extra challenges. There are not a lot of powerful troops, so getting the most use out of the more effective stands is important. For example, in this set of battles the Lullubi ...

Re: Zagros Highlanders (Lullubi) vs. Elamites
Thanks for all the positive feedback. I have enjoyed preparing these armies and am glad my son and I have had a chance to put them to the test. We played a second battle using the same armies. Once again the Lullubi were the invaders and selected a battlefield with dense terrain. The most significan...

Zagros Highlanders (Lullubi) vs. Elamites
My son and I played two games this weekend using my 15mm Lullubi (Zagros Highlander) and early Elamite armies. I took the Elamites for both games. The Lullubi were the invaders in the first game so the topography was hilly. There were six pieces of terrain; one steep hill, one stream, and four woode...

Re: Early Sumerians vs. Nomadic Amurru
Thanks MarkusB! I try to share the research and sources I have found so that other people interested in the same army have someplace to start. I have a few pieces of scatter terrain in these photos from the next battle (below), including a Sumerian farmer plowing a field and a ram caught in a thicke...

Re: Take the Chevy to the levy but the LEVY RUN DRY!
I have a battle report posted on the forum "Early Sumerians vs. Nomadic Amurru" which features a lot of bow levy on both sides. There is also a lot of good commentary on how to use them in battle in combination with other light troops.

Re: 15mm Bronze Age Zagros Highlanders Camp
The original camp, in the previous posts, was a combination of what little is known about Lullubi and early Gutian culture. My concept for the Lullubi army changed when I learned of recent (published 2019) archaeology of a Lullubi city that showed them to be more urbanized and literate than depicted...

Re: Early Sumerians vs. Nomadic Amurru
Very good points; I have to agree that avoiding combat with the Bow Levy while rushing forward on a flank with the Skirmishers and Raider General is a good plan. I made step towards that on the second battle and did slightly better. Having the General move with the Skirmishers is a great idea also, ...
