Re: Almoravid camels

Another Almoravid thought: it's tempting to to assume that the Saharan wing of the Almoravids continued to use camels in greater numbers than the Moroccan and Andalusian ones. However, the chroniclers more-or-less completely lose interest in events south of the Anti-Atlas after the death of Abu Bakr...

Re: Almoravid camels

First thought - and I'm primarily having hypothetical Almoravid camel-knights in mind here - is that they should probably still be shattered by Jav Cav, or they'd be too good against their replacements. 3:2QK can go either way, straight 3:2 not so much. Otherwise I like it. Seems more like the sort ...

Re: Meshwesh minor errors and typos

The Late Imperial Roman East list has:
Maneuver Rating
2 Normally
4 Under Constantine 324-337
2 Under Constantius 338-361 AD
The Constantius line seems a little superfluous, so I expect either it or the Normally line should have a different number.

Re: Meshwesh minor errors and typos

In the Classical Indian list, there appears to be a stray colon in the definition of the last troop type: ": Wild tribe bowmen".

In the Western Hunnic list, there appears to be something wrong with the Sciri allies: "No troop options entered"

Almoravid camels

Hi, I've been doing a little reading on the Almoravids lately, and while wargamer-ish detail is scant I've found several references to early Almoravid armies having few if any horsemen but plenty of camelry. This makes intuitive sense: we're speaking about armies raised in the Sahara after all. Dunc...

Re: Shooting at generals

Thanks. It came as a nasty surprise that we couldn't find the modifier when we played yesterday and Daniel's general found himself in the path of a cannonball (altho the way the dice fell he was destroyed regardless of whether he got the +1 or not).

Bad Horse do not.
Ah, thanks. Don't know how missed Battle Taxi on that line when looking at the QRS y'dy.

Bad Horse v. Battle Taxi

Dunno, if this is the right forum, but anyway: am I right that the only game-mechanical difference between Battle Taxi and Bad Horse is the base depth?

Shooting at generals

Am I blind, or has the +1 for general's getting shot at disappeared?

Re: Early Achaemenid cavalry

If the necromancy be excused, Anthony Clipsom made me aware of this article on Achaemenid cavalry: All the King's Horse Some observations of relevance for this thread: Regarding bow use, Tuplin observes that bows are depicted in the hands of Persian horsemen (more commonly hunters than cavalrymen, a...
