Template for the setup phase of a Triumph! game
Setting up a game of Triumph! is not a big deal, but for your first few games a scrap of paper and a pencil will come in handy. As an aide memoire and to support the setup phase of the game and for keeping score I have created a small template (half a page of A4). You can find it here: https://minim...

Re: distant shooting arc of fire
Yes, if there is an intervening terrain piece or a stand then I can see your point. Don't take me wrong - your Triumph! rules are very straightforward to apply, don't worry - it was just the minor issue about the "rectangle" that made me inquire. Looking forward to my next Triumph! game which is abo...

Re: distant shooting arc of fire
Thanks for your clarifications, David! (...) the image didn't come through on my end (...) I have changed the image location - hope it works by now. There is no geometric name for the shape we are discussing (intersection of the rectangle and the stadium), so we used "rectangle" to get the idea acro...

distant shooting arc of fire
maybe I'm being finical, yet I see a slight contradiction in the wording of the rules about maximum range of distant shooting and the definition of the arc of fire : 50.1 and 50.2 give a maximum range of 3MU (or 8MU respectively) 51.1 says that "the arc of fire is a rectangular area extending from t...

Re: Destroyed if beaten by flanking?
(...) We wrestled with these rules for six months before coming upon the elegant solution of not-conforming -- you only conform if you lose, as part of the losing protocol. Then it is suddenly much much simpler to write the rules, and much more clear for the players. so far as I can tell after a fe...

Re: Destroyed if beaten by flanking?
Sorry, seems I cannot find the rules paragraph you are referring to. 70.2 says that elements which are to fall back are destroyed instead if they have an enemy stand in flank or rear contact. But this is not what you have been talking about, isn't it?

Re: Test Game and kind of a review
(...) We'll consider it, but probably not. (...) Requiring a smidge of advance planning selects for better generalship rather than just rolling a 6 for command points at the right time. (...) but we'd have to have strong evidence before we'd want to introduce a class-level distinction that gives Ho...

Re: Test Game and kind of a review
(...) One thing I will mention is that there is a limit to the number of march moves that a stand or group of stands can do each turn (one march move per turn). Based on your account of the battle, it sounds like you did more than one. No big deal though. (...) Thanks for the hint, David. Being ful...
