Re: Libyans vs. Egyptians, 2200 BC

We switched sides and played again. I sent my Raiders directly at the Libyan main body as quickly as possible and used the Hordes to meet the flank march. The Bow Levy were left lingering in and near the camp. The Libyans put their Skirmishers in the flank march but the Horde was tough to beat. The ...

Re: Libyans vs. Egyptians, 2200 BC

Thanks, Deuce! Lessons Learned: The flank march gave the Libyans the opportunity to fight some of the lower-quality troops and distracted the main effort. It also gave them a shot at the camp. Moving as a group with Horde made the Egyptian advance unacceptably slow. Sending the fastest Egyptian troo...

Libyans vs. Egyptians, 2200 BC

My son and I played two battles of Triumph! This week using the Ancient Libyans and the Early Egyptians. The setting was 2200 BC, the time of Neferkare of the 6th Dynasty towards the end of the Old Kingdom. The Libyan forces were nineteen Rabble tribesmen, with two Skirmishers and a Warband general....

15mm Hyksos

This 15mm army represents the invading troops of the Hyksos people, who overthrew the native Pharaohs in Lower Egypt through a combination of migration and military power and established themselves as the Fifteenth Dynasty of Egypt for more than 100 years ( approximately 1650-1550 BC). They establis...

15mm Hititte Camp

The ideas for this camp came from the excellent Osprey book “Hittite Warrior” by Trevor Bryce. Bryce characterizes the Hittites as placing great emphasis on constant vigilance. Part of this effort was the construction and manning of watchtowers on the frontiers. The book has an illustration of just ...

15mm Hittites

The Hittites were rulers of most of Anatolia (in what is now Turkey) and one of the great powers of the ancient world for about 500 years, starting in about 1700 B.C. Their wars of conquest took them as far as Babylon and Syria all the way to the Egyptian frontier. Their army was characterized by a ...

15mm Gutians

This army represents the highland warriors of Gutium in the early Bronze Age. The location of Gutium is not known for sure, but it is presumed to be in the central Zagros Mountains in what is now Iran. They were known for ending the Akkadian Empire in about 2200 B.C. and bringing a short “dark age” ...

Re: Ach. Persian camp ideas ?

I have an idea for one that I haven't completed. It will be 12 stands of levy troops based as hordes. So maybe 10 figures per stand on 40mm x 40mm bases (15mm troops). These will be packed together in a 6 x 2 rectangle to make the camp. The idea is to represent the masses of troops from around the e...
