Re: Fantasy Playtest Report Back

Here is the Camp I mentioned. Was wondering. Can there be a sort of (cheap) Hero who can Garrison and provide bonus fighting to the Camp. (thinking of that Skull Totem)

Gallic vs Rome Quiz AAR

Triumph Game 8 Nov 2021 with Quiz.jpg My last Triumph! was such a 17:8 disaster that instead of a full AAR have posted this as an "Ancients Quiz" especially for those of you who like to analyse "what when wrong.". Look at the attached "disaster about to happen" game photo, and try work out from wha...

Re: Fantasy Playtest Report Back

Oh yes. One thing we tend to overlook until last. Both sides need proper camps. That building was all I could find and was wondering if I should try make it look more 'dark elfish' with a base. I have downloaded some pdf cardboard cut-out stuff which I may try put together sometime. (Crypt, haunted ...

Fantasy Playtest Report Back

The Undead 'Die!' (Yet again!;) The Dark Elves are finally rebased, and yesterday, Peter and I had a 'semi-solo' in our first full Fantasy playtest for the beta Rules. After 2hrs of an indecisive battle, the Dark Elves suddenly and dramatically achieved a stunning 20 : 4 win! The "Witch Elves" usin...

Re: Cataphracts

I informally collect feedback and keep notes to fuel our discussion for the eventual next version of Triumph! Not sure when that will happen, but it will likely be a long way down the road. The biggest impetus for a new version would be for WGC to sell all of our current print rulebook inventory OR ...

Re: Cataphracts

All of that would be true, if we were playing with 6mm figures. Does that mean, if 6mm then figures easier to fit onto the bases or are there game mechanisms involved at that scale? The underlying truth of the matter is this -- base depths are created by the figures. A line of combat Elephants shou...

Re: Cataphracts

On thinking more on it, it seems to be both an advantage or disadvantage (but both inappropriate) in certain situations with disengaging from Fall Back owing to base depth. Using Knight vs Cataphract example. Advantage to C/Phract: 3 Knight overlap 1 Cataphract, Cataphracts bound. Cataphract falls b...

Re: Cataphracts

Square bases!? Now I realise! (40mm for me) I've been blissfully playing with the old DBA/DBM 30mm. Oh well back to the 'drawing board. (at least may be easier to squeeze my chunky 40yr old Cataphracts on base now.;) Note the glitter on the armor and skin suture needles for lances. (keeps the little...

Re: Fantasy Triumph Playtest Undead vs Mithridatic & Queries

You cleared that up clearly! I think I'm still trying to get my head around, that "shattered" is really the old "quick kill" term we used in DBA/DBM. Also after years of "Barkerese," I tend to look for 'hidden meanings' in the rules. but need realise that Triumph! really just means what it says. Tha...
