Re: Ancient British BC9 DISMOUNTING MID-BATTLE? Battle Card
Just one more query on this topic... In 'Dismounting at Deployment' there is still 1 point needed. Why? All that seems to happen is at deployment 2 BTaxis are replaced by 2 Warriors. Is it having the ability to choose one or the other, depending on terrain, opponent etc the advantage to justify thi...

Re: Bits & Bobs
DK, Not sure of the problem here, as the link to LIvy allows one to click arrows so as to go forwards and backwards in the narrative account, but here are the sections or chapters that I think apply to the vexing challenge of modeling scythed chariots, generally, on an ancient battlefield: http://w...

Re: Ancient British BC9 DISMOUNTING MID-BATTLE? Battle Card
I see Ancient British Battle Taxis only have the BC8 'Dismounting at Deployment' Battlecard.' Would not the BC9 'Dismounting Mid-Battle' Battle Card also be applicable? (even if Warband instead of Warriors were used?) As far as I've read they used the Battle-Taxi as a means to get their foot troops...

Re: Bits & Bobs
Thanks for clarifying the scythed chariot battle card for me. To answer your question, it was under consideration. My reading of the ancient source material informs that the Seleucid scythed chariots were directed against a variety of enemy troops, not just those listed on the battle card. Chapters...

Re: Bits & Bobs
Regarding Magnesia and the chariots, well . . . the Battle Card did not really help, I think I need to review the ancient sources and then tweak the battle card, especially with respect to routing scythed chariots and their impact on friends. Are you thinking of representing the scythed chariots as...

Re: Bits & Bobs
Bits & Bobs If a friendly unit is attacked on the front and a flank by the enemy and it wins the melee round, are both enemy units required to make “lost melee round” move? For example, let us say that a friendly unit of Heavy Foot is attacked frontally by an enemy unit of Heavy Foot and on its fla...

Re: Historicon Signup Question
There is a small chance we'll make it for the Thursday night Fall of Rome tournament--it will take a traffic miracle. There are three of us and as of now, Son #1 can't get out of work till about 4. We're coming from NYC and if he can leave a little earlier there is a chance. How punctual (we'll hav...

Re: Special Event: Battle for Middle Earth, Historicon 2023
Still 14 players signed up after including me and DS. Roger Cooper is swapping for Mike Guth, though. Does anyone have an appropriate 80mm base Saruman army they could bring, in case we can recruit a signup at the convention? Rod will be bringing the Southron army Mark was going to field as a loaner...

Re: Base depth and rules
Well, these are magneticized laser-cut bases of 1x1 inch. With MUs being a half inch, it should be about as fiddly as a board wargame. The advantage isn’t so much in playing space as in transport and storage. But even so, a game of Triumph with a 1/2 inch MU gives me a two foot by 16 inch playing s...
