Re: Group move in difficult terrain : cost in CP ?

Perfect, thanks!

PS - I routinely roll 8s and 10s on my favourite die. It's a perfectly legal six-sided die, but I wrote a tiny "x2" on each face with a permanent marker. What does it mean you want to use it too? It's mine.

Re: Group move in difficult terrain : cost in CP ?

More of the same! Let's consider a group of 8 elements in a 4x2 block (i.e. 2 lines of 4 elements each, or equivalently 4 columns of 2 elements each, with front edges aligned and front corner contact). Let's say that the leftmost 4 elements (so, a 2x2 block of 2 columns with 2 elements each) are all...

Re: Tibetan

I've only read two books by Diamond: Guns, Germs & Steel, and The Third Chimpanzee (much better, imho). I definitely remember the Ming discussion, and I don't think it was in the 3rd chimp (which focuses on human ethology). My bet is that it is in G, G, & S...

To my eyes, building a database like 'vanilla' Meshwesh as it is now is already an heroic effort. Keyword-based improvements like tagging battles and generals can be done at a later stage... and gradually.

Re: Move distance in difficult terrain.

@Fab- Horses are usually very particular about how they 'feel' their footing on various surfaces, up to the point of refusing to move in some cases. The obvious examples would be rocky stretches, freshly plowed fields, and steep hillsides... You could even need to dismount and lead your horse if you...

Meshwesh minor errors and typos

While exploring Meshwesh, I realized that I was finding a few typos and minor errors, so I started to take note of them in case this could help future revisions. Unfortunately after I decided for this I only found two errors, but I'll try to trace back my steps to see if I stumble again on the previ...

Re: Meshwesh Keywords and Search Terms

While we're at it, wouldn't it be nice if lists also had named battles and famed commanders as keywords? In this way, one could search "Carrhae" and get Parthian and EIR, or search "Hannibal" and find (together with the aforementioned Hannibal in Italy, which ironically would also show up now) the e...

Re: Meshwesh Keywords and Search Terms

I didn't notice this thread... The most obvious non-match I've found so far is "Hannibal in Italy", which one can't find by searching for Carthagininan armies.

Re: Early Imperial Roman Auxilia as Raiders

But the point is that you only get a good share of roman light infantry from the turning point of the 2nd punic war to the end of the polybian roman list (up to 4 stands of velites). You don't get to choose in the EIR list, as you have 2-6 stands of raiders (auxilia) and 0-2 stands of light infantr...

Re: Early Imperial Roman Auxilia as Raiders

I can't find my rules copy, but my memory is that Raiders are not supposed to be shattered by Warband/Warrior when in difficult terrain. That's something we decided like in the September/October timeframe; did it not make it into the rules? Aha, that makes sense. I still think that auxilia should b...
