Re: Column flank attack clarification

Thanks Rod. We had a lot of these situations in the all the warband battles we played in the last 3 months including Telemon and I was never totally sure that was the right answer. It makes sense because they are working together. That would really have made the flank attacks disruptive to the charg...

Re: Column flank attack clarification

The combat factors before rolling are Pk: 2 (+3 vs foot, no rear support because of flank contact, -1 for flank contact) vs HF: 4 (+4 vs foot) Going back through the references, I did not see anything in 68 Rear Support that takes away the rear support add. Did I miss it or is it in a different sect...

Re: Rabble in Hoplite Armies

DK, I like that approach. And you find the armies for sale exactly as you state - mixed shields and single theme shields (usually Spartan.) In additon to needing rabble, in buying a DBA hoplite army you need more hoplites as heavy foot at 3 points requires a couple more to get the point total up to ...

Re: Austrasian Frankish

I appreciate you bringing up the topic to discuss, it is helpful in practically trying to apply it to figures in forming an army. Are you agreeing with the years on the lists? Early Frankish, etc. 250 AD to 584 AD and Austrasian Frankish 496 AD to 639 AD. Or are you making a critique or are you agre...

Re: Austrasian Frankish

I have looked at this with our Frankish figure line in mind and it does seem cloudy to me. We have a Clovis figure in the T&R figure line. We also have Saxons and I’ve lined them all up with the Franks and compared them. So I have a general feel for what we can do with our figures in that period. It...

Re: Rabble in Hoplite Armies

DK, We appear to be violently in agreement about anchoring, marketing and individualizing introduction of new gamers and meeting them where they are at. My original question was just to see what others had done with their legacy Classical Greek armies. As a frequent buyer of DBA, FOG and other syste...
