The only reference to a fosse that comes close is the one described by Wace. It is very much inconsistent with all the other references in both time and place of the fosse. The other accounts I have seen seem to indicate it was a natural dip the ground and the concealment was from natural vegetation...

Very interesting, I will take a look. The trench is mentioned and not mentioned in various versions. I went with the version where the trench is encountered post battle behind the original Saxon line.
