Remember seeing a display at the Smithsonian few years ago of arms and armor from the Mali, Benin, Kanem/Bornu, Songhai and other west African kingdoms associated with the ascendancy of Timbuktu. There were very elaborate and highly decorated weapons, helmets and body armor and horse tack in particu...

Proposed 15mm Sumerian Range (by Eureka)

Nic Robson at Eureka Miniatures is inviting expressions of interest (and pre-orders) in a proposed 15mm Sumerian range, modeled after Eureka’s excellent 28mm range, which you can peruse on-line at: http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath=87_126_738&sort=3a Tentative plans call for the 15mm Sumerian ...

Re: Khurasan's Gasgans

Gasgan fans note...Khurasan is adding a code of Gasgan elite "bodyguards" or warriors with helmets and armed with bow and two hand swords. An interesting combination. Check out teasers in the Khurasan blogsite at: https://www.facebook.com/khurasanminiatures

Re: Stratclyde spear

As to why the Brits of Strathclyde are classed as spear is an interesting question to which I've seen several theories posited. The first theory links the soldiers of the 9th-10th C kingdom to the descendants of the settled Roman limitanei, whose doctrine involved fighting in regular formations. Sev...

Re: Basing of Rabble

I've decided to let the army description be the guide...as David K. notes, since the base size is the same either way..the number of figures shouldn't be an issue unless it somehow creates confusion. So for army lists where the rabble are described as peasants or others reluctant warriors armed most...

Re: Making the map for Pelennor Field

Here's another option from Home Depot....5x8 (almost 6x9) painters drop cloths made up of 8 oz canvas by Sigman for $12 bucks each. Two packs have got your table covered. You could run the Osgiliath causeway to hide the seam. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Sigman-5-ft-9-in-x-8-ft-9-in-8-oz-Canvas-Drop-C...

Re: Khurasan 15mm Late 14th Century Range

The Khurasan Facebook page features the upcoming code of 14th Century Knights at: https://www.facebook.com/khurasanminiatures

Also in the works at Khurasan....Mongols (on Mongolian ponies), Spring and Autumn Chinese and Chinese Barbarians...plus hints of a New Kingdom Egyptian range.
