thanks, that does help. But as I was puzzling through this another question came up on flank attacks. A unit is attacked in front and flank by two other units. The rules say the front attack has "priority"; does that mean that that there is only one die roll for all three units? I assumed that part ...

If a unit is attacked in the flank (only), and the result is a tie, does the flanked unit have the ability to turn and face? (for free? or with a command pip?) THat's a good point about the math being the same, just going for an overlap. It just seemed like a lot of adjusting instead of just *Charging*

I was playing a Han Chinese vs. Roman fun scenario, and had a Han chariot burst through the Roman line, followed by a flanking raider.
