Re: Variable Victory Conditions

DK: I like the way you separate out the impact on the game from the impact on historical nature of the game. I got to this suggestion thinking about how historical battles vary in terms of when one side gets to that tipping point. I was generalizing the rule just a bit beyond what you might do for a...

Re: Variable Victory Conditions

DK and Rod, Thanks for your thoughts. Of course I agree that points aren't casualties, just an abstraction, at best a measure of broken units. It definietly adds more uncertainty. And more chaos in a game is fun for some and not for others. In a game system where the reference is always made to roll...

Variable Victory Conditions

Could non-tournament victory conditions be variable? 1/3rd points make sense, but real battles had all types of results in terms of at what point the losing side gives up. Grand Triumph uses half the points for victory (with the demoralization of commands at 1/3 coming into play too.) Variable victo...

We would hope to have these naked guys ready for sale in the near future.

Re: Differentiating similar Troop Type

DK, It was Hastings that triggered the specific thought, but it’s really a generic question. (I did convert some 3BW Archers from the legacy system to skirmishers in Triumph! By popping off the middle figure to have enough archer skirmishers.) The long established WRG basing standards are a blessing...

Differentiating similar Troop Type

Any clever ideas on how to differentiate troop types based the same way? Heavy foot and Elite foot seem to be the biggest issue, particularly for newer players and when playing bigger games like Grand Triumph!

Not a biggie, but wondering if others have ideas.

Hastings

Before Triumph! I had made a custom board for the Battle of Hastings following the Two Davids That Embattled Isle scenario book. I adapted the scenario to Triumph! using Duke William’s Norman Invasion list and the Anglo-Danish list. Duke William: 4 x Knights (16 pts), 4 x Elite Foot (16 pts), 1 x Ja...

Re: Name for Fantasy Triumph!

Adepticon and Gencon really are the high end commercial cons. The vendors put a lot into booths and supporting their game systems. It’s overwhelming as a consumer wanspd ring the vendor halls and it builds consumer expectations. If you could come to Apeditocn it would be great. GMs and vendors have ...

Re: Name for Fantasy Triumph!

FWIW the SAGA National tournament has been at Adepticon in Chicago the last 4 years or so. I think FoW has their Nationals there too.

Adepticon has an interesting history as a very successful independently run convention.

And your marketing rationale for liking Fantasy Triumph! is? Or you just like the sound.
