Re: Thoughts about Bibracte and TRIUMPH!

Roger - Apologies for the 28 day delay in responding to your 25 day later post . . . Just seeing/noticing this now, and there also were the few days when this site was down for maintenance. Anyway. Thanks for your comments re Bibracte. You make some good points. If I find myself wandering back down...

Re: Thoughts about Bibracte and TRIUMPH!

I don't think you need any special rules. The legions had a hilltop battleline, giving them a +1 bonus in Triumph terms. So the legions are +6 vs the warriors at +3. The legions have 1/4 chance of killing the warriors while the warriors have a 1/6 chance of killing the legions. Once the lines start ...

Re: Some thoughts on Indian Archery . . .

You have a point about massed volleys. Archery was presitigious in India, but I am not seeing actual mentions of it having effect on the battlefield. The Arthashatra says that bows she be deployed to the rear ( https://www.wisdomlib.org/hinduism/book/kautilya-arthashastra/d/doc366166.html ) which im...

A beautiful paint job. You should post your army list.

Re: A Newby's Reflections on Pips and Battleplans

Welcome to Triumph. Unlike most miniatures games, skill is important in Triumph as you try to optimize the use of your forces and make every pip count. In this system games can be played an ordinary table in 1 hour and you can handle any Anicient/Medieval/Fantasy army.

Re: Some thoughts on Indian Archery . . .

Indian archers were using longbows, drawing back to the ear and were a prestigious part of the army. They clearly should be Archer/Shooter.

Mughal Empire Army List

I was working on an historical battle (Bhuchar Mori) that involved the Mughal Empire. Their army was interesting and colorful and probably belongs in Meshwesh. You have such units as Zamburakchi (Camels with Swivel Guns) and Gajnal (Elephants with Cannon). Some information can be found on https://en...

Re: Triumph at FATDOG-Seaford NY (Long Island)-11/29

I ran the Orcs vs Elves starter pack. The Elves won easily as the Orc player decided to use "historical" orcish tactics (run straight at the enemy). I need to make get some miniatures specifically for this starter pack.

Triumph at FATDOG-Seaford NY (Long Island)-11/29

I have a table reserved at FATDOG https://tabletop.events/conventions/fatdog-2024 and I plan to run a demo of Triumph.

Re: Sword-Fighting Cavalry Battlecard

That's very important if we ever expand Triumph to the Renaissance/Pike and Shot era, but irrelevant for earlier. Swords and lances, or swords and bows, or (for some) swords and lances and bows, is what you get before the advent of easy gunpowder weapons for mounted troops. I look forward to Triump...
