Re: Late Teutonic Order
I was referring to the Prepared Defenses Battle Card but that is not the effect that these pavises have. Prepared Defenses impacts melee combat by units moving into the defender. A wide range of archers use propped up pavises for missile defense but which provided no real benefit for melee combat. S...

Re: Late Teutonic Order
The foot crossbowmen frequently fought behind pavises - indeed pavises were very popular in this war, small versions even being carried by cavalry - but I'm not sure if they had a front rank with close combat weapons to count as Pavisiers. There are lots of Archers & Bow Levy that used pavise shiel...

Re: Dunlendings
Thanks for the reply David. I should have thought about making them Raiders. I guess when I think of shieldwall breakers I think of supported Warriors with Warband as more of a well they can do it if they get lucky. JavCav is interesting, but might that make them too effective against Knights that w...

Dunlendings
I am looking to put together some Dunlending troops to support Saruman eventually growing it out to a full list for Grand Fantasy Triumph. What are everyone's thoughts on troop classes? I've seen other lists treat them as mostly Warband troops with a few cavalry & skirmishers. I was thinking of star...

Re: 15mm Mounted Halflings?
I have a few of the halfling militia on ponies from Splintered Light. I have also been looking at using some horses from the smaller 15mm ranges & converting a couple of armoured halflings into riders. http://www.splinteredlightminis.com/hamionpo.html Battle Valor Games has also started a halfling l...

Re: Highelves
Really nice Elves!
I like the idea of the mage as an artillery unit, I have been pondering how to incorporate figures like that into my army. I'll have to base up at least one to use as artillery. Another idea I had was to use a mage as the second rank in a pavise unit behind a row of infantry.

Re: Hero Implementation
Great discussion on how heroes can and will work in Fantasy Triumph. I'm fairly new to the game, so seeing the intent on how to do this will certainly help. I've played a few games at the HMGS cons and tried the Fantasy version at Cold Wars. I've been trying to work out mechanisms for heroes on my o...
