Movement Questions

Post by kdoenitz » Fri Jan 13, 2017 1:19 am

A couple basic questions that we struggle with:

1. Can an individual unit or group ever move backwards during tactical move?

2. When an individual unit moves per 31.1 it says that a stand can "move in any direction and rotate through any angle". Does that mean that the rotation is measured as part of the move or is it 'free'?

3. Can a unit ever move sideways during tactical moves (other than conforming)?

Individual stand yes (31.1); group no.

It can make such a move, but the distance is measured normally as described (which means no, it is not free).

By 31.1, a single stand can move in any direction (subject to ZOC restrictions). If it couldn't move sideways, we would have said something like "it can only move forward". So yes, it can move sideways.
