Re: Dunlendings

I am looking to put together some Dunlending troops to support Saruman eventually growing it out to a full list for Grand Fantasy Triumph. What are everyone's thoughts on troop classes? I've seen other lists treat them as mostly Warband troops with a few cavalry & skirmishers. I was thinking of sta...

Re: Acknowledgement to DBA?

The no turning for flanks and almost everybody following up on doubles I found to be real differences that make the game better. That, and ZOC don't block you, you just move slower. You have a good eye. Those three, plus making movement in base widths (changes to movement caused by throwing away th...

Re: Acknowledgement to DBA?

Buckets of dice games -- that's a design mechanism that I really don't like. Maybe for a skirmish game, where linking a figure to an attack would make some sense -- no, even then, I would want to roll each dice individually. Because if you are pretending that each die represents the attack of a sing...

Re: Acknowledgement to DBA?

No problem. I met up with some of them today and they're more settled on the issue. In fact they're interested in trying the rules in 2 weeks time. (So will let 'sleeping dogs lie' for now.;) Cool. More than that -- I expect when they actually try the rules, they'll realize that it isn't DBA at all...

Re: Acknowledgement to DBA?

Just one more point. I run the Klub's Facebook Page (Durban Historical Wargames Group) and have been prompting Truimph! on it. That's great! Regarding this DBA issue if the matter keeps on resurfacing, do you guys mind if I post your comments on the Page? (If that would help) Hm. That's up to you, ...

Re: Acknowledgement to DBA?

Well, I'd just point them to David's post above: that should suffice. If that's not enough, then nothing likely will be. Exactly so. As several posters have mentioned, there were some strong emotions back in the day. Rehashing those strong emotions to fight for a small fraction of a market is a poo...

Re: Rohan

Tolkien Army of the Dead: The Army of the Dead, also known as the Dead Men of Dunharrow or Oathbreakers. Hats why I am unsure - I don't see them as a shambling horde of undead... ...more a ghostly army of dead warriors. They weren't an army at all. Not in the sense of "fighting". They never swung a...

Re: Rohan

But for the general classification (and by that also basing): anybody an idea? Hordes seem right from the undead masses aspect, but a bit weak if you think about the described performance and speed of the army of the dead. Which army of the dead? To be more specific -- armies of the dead are a comm...

Re: Rohan

The most relevant card for representing undead hordes is Regenerate; the draft version is described below. Other interesting battle cards are: Terror. +1 point per stand cost; enemy stands turn a Fall Back result into a Flee result. Fierce. -1/2 point per stand cost. Cannot disengage from combat; mu...

Re: Rohan

Mention it again later in the week -- we've got some very interesting draft ideas in Fantasy Triumph that might be cool for an Army of the Dead.
