Re: Skirmishers being doubled

Chris, I agree about the additional troop classes and the improvement in the open/closed order classifications. I really love the additional mounted classes. We have some greart Mongol figures in our Thistle & Rose line and the Horse Bow class really helps horse bow armies behave in historically app...

Re: Skirmishers being doubled

Chris, I totally agree. The videos have moments in them where you see the tactical situation and say ah ha! Skirmishers are definitely worth the price. You’ll note there are limited numbers in the army lists and I’m still learning how to use rabble and other open order troop types that are a ‘newer’ .

Re: What happens here?

A follow up question on columns. If the Jav Cav had fully convered the flanks of both stands of the column, killed the first stand, leaving the Jav Cav in contact with the flank of the skirmishers stand, would the skirmisher stand now be in combat with the Jav Cav? And if the skirmisher stand failed...

Re: 15vs20mm depth for formed foot

I found a place where it might matter in our game last week. Warriors on a 15mm base (well really 30mm as they were 28mm figures) facing light foot on a 20mm base. Warriors were 2 ranks so they had the depth bonus. They won most of the combats, advancing 15mm in pursuit. I had the light foot and was...

Re: Close order foot on 20mm deep stands...

Almost all of us have played Triumph! With some troops still based for the legacy system. The games were still fun and we learned the rules. So just playing with your armies as is should be fine with or without trying to adjust for the 5mm difference. But as David says you can’t really adjust for ev...

Re: Close order foot on 20mm deep stands...

It's an additional thing to measure (15mm vs. 20mm) during the game, but you should go with it until you can/want to rebase. I'd suggest having a couople of blank 15mm deep bases to use help in the measurement process

Re: At what moment is the command distance measured?

Right, you couldn't do that more than once or twice a game with good command dice results.

Re: 2 Questions re: Historical Accuracy Rivers & Deployment

I would say the rule I experiment the most with is the command points rule. I love the simplicity of the 6 sided die and the variation it brings, it helps make every game tense. But that being said, it does cause certain conservative behaviors that don't look all that historic to me on the table top...

Re: At what moment is the command distance measured?

I hadn’t thought of that, but it makes perfect sense because sequence matters. So a General more than 8Mu from an enemy, could move behind their own troops to the left and give a command, then move back right using a March move? Might be a helpful tactic for terrain features breaking up command or f...

Re: 15mm Mounted Halflings?

FYI we have 15mm ponies in our Thistle & Rose line of figures (used for our Irish, Picts and Scots.)
